Salon
FAQs
What
are your prices for long or short hair? Prices are
based on the level of the
stylist you see and whether additional resources will be required.
Please ask your stylist about this during the consultation.
What does the
stylist's level mean? Our levels system is
based
on education, practical experience and achievements. Whatever level you
choose, you can be confident that your stylist looks forward to making
you look and feel great.
What's the difference
between a full
highlight and a partial highlight? A full
highlight distributes lighter strands throughout the hair. A partial
highlight creates lighter strands on the top of the head and around the
face, while the sides and back of the head are one color. I
colored my hair at home and it didn't turn out well. What do I tell my
colorist? Tell her the
whole truth. The
more information she has, the easier it will be for her to solve your
hair color challenge!
My
hair is dull/dry/damaged/covered in iron! Is there anything you can do?
Ask
about our conditioning treatments and color gloss
services. These are a great way to get your hair looking healthier.
Do
you do extensions?
While we may
place temporary clip-in extensions as part of a special occasion style,
we do not offer permanent extensions. We encourage you to consult with
your stylist to determine whether extensions are right for you. What is a VIP guest? A VIP guest is
a guest who comes to see us regularly. VIP guests receive complimentary
bang or nape trims between hair cuts to look their best all the time!
Ask your stylist how to schedule a trim.
When should I arrive? We suggest that
you arrive
5-10 minutes before your service is scheduled to begin. This allows
time for you to customize your service and get comfortable before it
begins.
I'm pregnant. Can I
still have spa
services? We welcome
expectant
mothers! Please inform the front desk and your service providers if you
are pregnant so we can customize the service for you and your baby.
Are there any age
restrictions? Young guests
are welcome at
the spa. A parent or guardian must sign for guests under 18 who are
receiving body care services, and a parent or guardian is welcome to
observe the massage. Because your time at the spa is intended to be a
relaxing experience, we ask that an adult accompany guests under the
age of 15 for the duration of their stay at the spa.
Massage
& Body Wrap FAQs What
kind of massages do you offer? We offer
Swedish, deep tissue and hot stone massages. Additional services, such
as reflexology, may be available on a limited basis. Please ask a spa
coordinator or your massage therapist for more information.
What is Swedish
massage? Swedish massage
is the kind of gentle, relaxing massage most people imagine when they
think of a spa. This is the style generally recommended for a
first massage and is beneficial for relieving emotional stress and
muscle aches.
What is deep tissue
massage? Deep tissue
massage focuses on relieving pain and improving circulation in areas
with chronic tension. This is especially helpful for tight shoulders,
tense lower backs and stiff necks. Many people experience some
discomfort during the massage as deeper pressure is necessary to
address this kind of tension. After your massage, you may
enjoy
relief from tension-related pain and greater range of motion.
What is hot stone
massage? Hot stone
massage is deeply relaxing to the mind and body. Your therapist will
place water-warmed stones on your body. The heat softens tense areas
while your therapist massages areas not being treated by the stones.
Later, the stones will be removed and the warmed areas massaged.
Do
you offer prenatal massage? Our Swedish and
deep tissue massages can be customized for expectant mothers. Please
let our spa coordinator know you're expecting and how far along you are
so arrangements can be made for your comfort. What is a body wrap? Our Aveda body
wraps are relaxing skin-softening treatments for the whole body. While
your therapist will use some massage techniques, the body wrap focuses
on mental relaxation and improving the condition of the skin.
Will I lose inches
during my body wrap? Weight lost
during a body wrap is water weight only, and returns the next time the
recipient drinks water. Because our aim is to soften the skin and
soothe the mind, not dehydrate the guest, we do not advertise or expect
weight loss as a result of the procedure.
What should I wear
for my massage or
body wrap? Please undress
to your
comfort level. With the exception of chair massages, body care services
are traditionally done without clothing. All of our service providers
are highly trained professionals who will cover and drape you to
maintain your privacy throughout the service.
Can I specify the
gender of my massage
therapist? We will strive
to accommodate your gender preference. Please note that this may affect
the availability of your service.
Are there any age
restrictions? Young guests
are welcome at
the spa. A parent or guardian must sign for guests under 18 who are
receiving body care services, and a parent or guardian is welcome to
observe the massage. Return to top
Sugaring
& Waxing FAQs
What are sugaring and waxing? Sugaring and
waxing are two ways to remove hair from the face and body.
What's the difference
between sugaring
and waxing? Waxing
uses a spreadable wax applied
above body temperature, then
allowed to cool to grasp the hair properly. Waxing can create
precise lines, one
of the reasons we use it for eyebrow shaping. Sugaring uses
a natural stretchy
sugar paste applied at body temperature. The sugar does not need to
cool to be effective, so larger areas can be sugared in a shorter
period of time.
Who gets sugaring or
waxing services? Anyone who wants to
get rid of face or
body hair without the inconvenience of shaving. Our guests are all
ages, and come from all walks of life.
Which method is
better? If you want to shape
your brows, we
recommend waxing. For any of the other services, we recommend asking
one of our salon coordinators or our sugaring and waxing technicians
for a recommendation. Both methods are highly effective.
What's the difference
between a bikini
and a Brazilian? A bikini cleans up
the bikini line
while a Brazilian removes everything. Our sugaring and
waxing technicians
are able to customize either service in the event that you'd like
something more than a bikini but less than a Brazilian.
What should I do
before my first
Brazilian?
Make sure the hair is
the right length. About 1/4 inch is ideal. If you don't have a ruler
handy, stack up four quarters. The height of the stack is about 1/4
inch. If hair is too short, it may not be possible to remove it. If it
is too long, it can be much more uncomfortable to remove.
To minimize
discomfort, time your visit at least three days before or after your
period.
Take ibuprofen about
an hour before your appointment, if desired, to reduce
discomfort.
Wear white underwear
to your appointment. Dyes in colored fabric can irritate the skin,
resulting in bumps or ingrown hairs.
How long does sugaring or
waxing last? It depends on the
individual.
Four to six weeks
is average. You
may soon find that you need to wait longer between visits. Will it hurt like in the
movies? Relax. The movies
exaggerate things
for comic effect. In real life, the first time is
usually the most
uncomfortable, but the discomfort decreases with each follow up visit.
One of our sugaring or waxing specialists would be happy to address
your concerns about the process and help you decide whether sugaring or
waxing is for you. Which sugaring and
waxing services are
available at which locations? Baxter-
Facial and body waxing, face and body sugaring Sartell- Facial
and body waxing Madden's-
Facial waxing only
Tipping
FAQs
Should I tip? Gratuities are not
required, never
expected, but always appreciated. If for any reason you do not feel a
gratuity was earned, we strongly encourage you not to tip.
What payment methods can
be used for tips? Cash
and checks can be used at our Baxter and Sartell locations.
Unfortunately, we are not able to accept tips via gift certificate,
credit card or debit card at this time.
